Senior Design Director

Nelson has several credentials to his name: AIA and LEED AP BD+C, in addition to being a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT). In his decade working at Gro, he’s been an essential member of the team in applying his expertise to our work.

Trained at Virginia Tech where he received his bachelor of architecture, with a minor in economics, Nelson has contributed to a number of meaningful projects. The YMCA of Stillwater, Oklahoma is one such project set to break ground in 2025. Others include the North Buffalo (New York) YMCA, and the YMCA of Ottawa, Illinois. Each are in developmental stages and, when completed, will add to Nelson’s growing list of structures where he served as a principle designer.

As a skilled practitioner of environmentally conscious design and construction, Nelson adds important experience and expertise to our projects. Gro is a firm that works exclusively with purpose-driven organizations, so Nelson’s LEED credentials enable those clients to satisfy their own values and the interests of their constituents.
