Sara Jennings
Design Director
“My aspiration is to continually push the boundaries of what’s achievable in public spaces and resources, contributing to impactful community projects.”
That’s how Sarah Jennings – who works on zoning studies, crafts presentations, and provides renderings – describes what she enjoys most about her work with Gro. “Collaborating with the team, I aim to provide clients with visually compelling materials to inform decisions and support fundraising efforts,” she adds.
Jennings achieved University Honors when earning her degree, a bachelor’s of architecture, at Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University).
Jennings has long had a passion for the creative arts: painting, drawing, architecture, crafting handmade goods, even devising branding strategies. She credits working with YMCA communities for contributing to her design experiences – and for providing support in her own early years of motherhood.
“Our designs – integrating fitness facilities, recreational areas, and versatile communal spaces – serve as catalysts for positive social change and holistic wellbeing,” she says. “Beyond mere structures, they embody inclusive environments fostering growth of the body, mind, and spirit. It’s contagious being part of a network dedicated to making a meaningful difference and providing safe havens for others.”
Together with her husband John (also with Gro), she volunteers at her children’s school creating displays and infusing creativity into planning classroom parties. “I’m deeply committed to raising our children with empathy and compassion, instilling in them the value of family, community, and pursuing meaningful endeavors in life.”
